FAQ

If your question is not listed here, feel free to ask at the free consultation.

Can we talk in Japanese?

Yes. Meetings are normally held in Japanese. Please tell us what you want, such as "We want it to feel like this" or "This task is a hassle", in Japanese just as it is.

Emails can be in Japanese or English, so your English-speaking staff can contact us directly too.

Is it all right to just ask for advice?

Yes, of course. There is no charge if you review our quote and decide not to go ahead.

Feel free to get in touch even if you are not sure what to ask for. We will talk it through with you and work out the challenges and what needs to be done.

Do you work with businesses in New Zealand or Japan?

Yes. We also take on work for clients outside Australia. Meetings are normally held online, on Queensland time.

If you are near Brisbane or the Gold Coast, we can also meet in person.

The time difference changes with the season, but New Zealand is usually 2–3 hours ahead of Queensland, and Japan is usually 1 hour behind.

Our budget is limited. Can you keep the cost down?

Yes. We suggest an approach that fits your budget.

For example, we can launch with only the pages and features you need now and add more step by step as you go. We work out priorities within your budget and plan a realistic approach together.

How does payment work?

Development costs are normally paid in three instalments tied to project milestones. We set out when each payment is due and how much it is at the quote stage.

Payment is by Australian bank transfer, and we issue a Tax Invoice including GST. Maintenance plans are billed monthly.

Can we update the content ourselves after launch?

Yes. We can build admin screens for the text, images, prices and other items you want to update in-house.

We show you how to use the admin screens at launch, so you can handle everyday updates yourselves. The features and what can be updated are agreed with you before the build.

Can you build with WordPress?

Yes, if you prefer.

However, for sites with many custom features such as bookings or customer management, we may suggest building without WordPress for easier maintenance and future growth. We choose the setup that suits your needs and how you will run the site.

What about servers and domains?

You can keep using your current server and domain, or we can set up new ones.

As a rule, the accounts are in your company's name and you receive the login details needed to manage them. We aim for a setup that does not tie you to any one developer and is easy to manage or hand over in future.

Can you fix or take over a website another company built?

Yes.

We first check the server, admin screens, source code and so on, then tell you what we can do and what it will cost. If you do not have the login details, we can also look at whether access can be recovered.

Whether we can take it on depends on your current contracts, admin access and how the system is built.

Will the website or text just be generated by AI?

We may use AI for parts of the work, but design, content review and quality decisions are made by the developer. Rather than using AI output as it is, we check that everything fits your needs and your business.

When we build AI features into a system, we work out in advance what information is sent to the AI and how its results are used, and build it only after you have approved it.

Is personal information handled properly?

For systems that handle personal information, we check the purpose, what information is needed and how it is stored, and design the system to handle it appropriately.

We take into account the requirements that apply to your business and system, including Australian privacy law. The measures needed depend on the information handled and the nature of the service.
